Question
Prosperity preachers, teach that Jesus was a rich man.
They use this to persuade, thier congregation to give so that they can be rich.

I respond with "Foxes have caves, birds have nest, But the Son of Man has No place to lay his Head."

I use this passage to say that although He wasn't poor, ( Because His Father made sure that He received everything that he needed. )

Jesus was Technically Homeless.

Prosperity Teachers would say that Jesus was referring to His Death.

1. In The feeding of the five thousand, one disciple asks Jesus How would the crowd be fed?  ( paraphrase )

2. The passage where Jesus had to draw, coins from a fish.

3. Judas being angry at the woman because she waisted expensive perfume, when she could have fed the poor.

4. It was prophesied that He would be buried in a rich man's tomb. It wasn't prophesied, that He had no place to lay His Head.

Even if that Jesus were referring to his Death. It doesn't confirm that He was rich.

Answer
Dear Jason,

You are right. Whilst Jesus did not lack for anything such as food and clothing and got temple tax when it was needed, yet His Father in heaven kept him humble and lowly even in richess. We follow Jesus. Not american teachers of the gospel.  ALways follow Jesus!

Unfortunately your country is pitched in materialism and teachers often seek to justify their richess by using this properity doctrine. Yet Jesus diod promise those who worked for him would lack nothing that the gentiles sort...such as food clothes, education for kids and so forth, he never promised luxury and richess.

The sin of that nation pervades the church.

Proverty is also not a blessing but a big curse. So somewhere in the middle is the norm that God draws the line at, if you will allow Him to direct your life. He will not spoil you but will not leave you in poverty.

Hope this helps?

God bless you Jason.
