About Rev C.Brian Ross
Expertise
I am happy to offer answers to anyone with a question that refers to the Christian Faith in its widest possible sense. I believe that the Bible is the living Word of God, and seek to base all of my life on its teaching. I also have some knowledge of some of the cults, and of Islam and Judaism. Of course, my answers are just one man's thoughts, and I would always advise a questioner to check with others, and with the Word of God.

Experience
Served as a full-time parish minister in Scotland for about six years, and then spent the last thirty as a teacher (now 'retired') of Religious Education in Secondary Comprehensive schools (ages 11-17) while continuing my own preaching and teaching ministry. I also believe that learning is a life-time process, and have recently completed a Master's degree in Divinity.

Organizations
Former Presenter on Revival FM - a local Christian, community radio station, broadcasting in west central Scotland, and online at revival.fm Involved with a number of organisations that support Christians who are currently suffering persecution in some 70 countries around the world.

Publications
Various articles in Christian magazines. I also have two blogsites - www.crazyrev.blogspot.com and (with audio messages) www.revcbross.blogspot.com

Bible Studies - Bible/Christians

Expert: Rev C.Brian Ross - 11/14/2008

Question

Dear Rev C. Brian Ross

What are the of the verses, of what chapters., of what books, of the Bible; that explains and sheds light on;

After a person becomes a Christian; what are the do's/do not's for, Christians?

A list of the verses, is what I am looking for: I can look up what the Bible says (this way it will save you some time). Even some of the verses will help, if you do not have time to do the hole answer.

Thank you in advance for your time and help on this matter.

Allen

Answer
Dear Allen,

Thank you for your question - and for your thoughtfulness in saving me some time! :-)

It would not be easy to provide a complete list of verses such as you have requested.  However, I would suggest that the most important passages to read and study would be Ex.20:1-17 (see, for example, Matt.5:17-18 for affirmation that the Christian, while free from seeking to please God, through His grace, by keeping the law; is not free from its demands, as a loving response to His grace and mercy, in Christ); Matt.5:1ff, 22:36-40; Rom.13:8-10; Gal.5:16-26, 6:2; and just about the whole of the letter from James - which may be subtitled "Belief and Behaviour".

This is not a list of bullet-points, but a set of principles by which the Christian lives out his/her life under the guidance and direction of God the Holy Spirit.  You do not tell me how long you have been a Christian, but as you walk ever more closely to, and with, the Lord Jesus then you will find yourself becoming more sensitive to what He would have you do - and from what He would have you refrain!

I pray that you will have a fruitful study of the above passages and, if you have access to a cross-reference Bible, of many of the related passages.

Please feel free to come back with a supplementary question, if the above is not satisfactory.

Blessings,

C.Brian Ross (Rev)
