Please tell me, is god and the devil in a fight for our souls

That's a very good question William, lets look at what the bible says on the subject ok, first of all lets see what Satan has been up to--

Lets start with since he was thrown out of heaven--Revelation 12:7-12.

In part it reads--"Down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is MISLEADING THE ENTIRE INHABITED EARTH; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him"

& 1 John 5:19 tells us; "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one"

So theres no doubt about it, there is a war going on; happily v'12 in Rev tells us that, Satan only has a "short period of time" to wage this war, but what is he fighting for, what does he hope to gain? Lets see--

The fundamental rivalry is between truth and untruth, started by Satan the Devil & still rages on today.It permeates all levels of human society and affects every individual. The way a person lives puts him on one side of the issue or the other.

Those on GOD'S SIDE base their life course on the truth of God’s Word, the Bible.

Anyone who does not follow the way of the truth falls, knowingly or unknowingly, into the hands of SATAN— Matthew 7:13, 14.

The bible clearly tells us what God hopes we do--

Deut 30;19,20--"you must CHOOSE LIFE in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring, by loving your God, by listening to his voice and by sticking to him; for he is your life and the length of your days.."

Isaiah 48;17,18)--"I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit [yourself], the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk. O if only you would actually PAY ATTENTION to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea"

So yes there is a fight going on, God is allowiing Satan to rule for a short period of time, to see who chooses to obey God & who prefers to live by Satans values.

The winner will be God, of that there is no doubt, Satan will soon be done away with, so it is important that we choose to serve God before the time of judgement arrives.
