Bible Studies/reference to the world being round???
Expert: Paul Walker - 12/20/2008
QuestionHello, My question is is there any reference to the world being round
in the book of Job? Or any other book of the Bible for that matter? I
just re read the book of Job and I did not find any reference to the
world being round. I remember a sermon that my now deceased pastor
gave. He was Dr. Rick Furguson of Riverside Baptist in Denver. I can't
quite recall but I thought he made reference to possibly in the book of
Job some indication that the world is round. Also I think he made a
reference to the jet stream in the book of Job. Job, I have heard, is the
oldest book of the Bible. So...question number 2. Was Job alive
before Abraham? How did they find his book, his writings? He was
apparently alive when the dinasaurs roamed the earth, correct? He had to be
before Noah or Noah would have taken dinasaurs on the ark. Is that
correct? What do you think wiped them out?
Thank you.
AnswerI believe the verse you are looking for is:
Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the CIRCLE OF THE EARTH, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Yes, Job is the oldest book of the Bible, obviously no one knows for sure when it was written, however, if we stick with the book it was written about the time of Jacob and Esau or shortly there after: most definitely after the flood. As far as dinosaurs, that is a very contested subject.
I would recommend that you read the book a few times in the KJV if you desire to understand it.
Hope this is of some help.

PS.
In your comments you mention two great beast in Job. If one is a reference to Job 41 then you must realize that this is a reference to Satan. Job 41:33 tells us that "Upon earth there is not his like",(KJV) so one cannot use this as a dinosaur. The other is hottly contested within the evolutionary debate of young vs. old earth.
