Bible Studies/The Perfect Scripture

QuestionLast week, my husband left me for another woman. I am very devastated, of course. Valentines day is coming up, and although it may be stupid of me, I bought him a card. I want to write a Bible scripture on the card, but I don't know which one. I am a very 'young' Christian. I have been going to church and studying the Bible only for a short time. I want the verse to be something that will make him think about what he is doing and how biblically and morally wrong it is. Do you have any suggestions?
AnswerDear Bekah,
I can see from your question that you are crushed, broken hearted. This is a very difficult time for you, and you need to seek help from your pastor or from someone who has gone through this before. Perhaps you could join a support group for rejected spouses. These can be found in churches, and sometimes in hospitals operated by church organizations.
Sending him a card at this time may irritate him and widen the gulf even further. He is in the state of infatuation at the moment, and in his confused mind she is everything that you are not. Please forgive me if I sound too harsh. Whatever your experience together, there is no reason why he should leave you for another woman.
But he has plenty of excuses (which he deems as reasons) why he is taking this course. But I would think it would be too early to attempt to make overtures at this point. The most important thing you can do right now is go to your knees and pray the prayer of Christ on the cross:
Luke 23:34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." . . .
Forgive and pray that your heart will have room for him when he realizes what a fool he’s been. Prepare your heart to take him back into your arms and into your life. That is very difficult for a woman to do after her husband has been unfaithful to her. But it is something that you should pray about.
If he divorces you and remarries, then, I’m afraid all hope is gone, and you must look to the future and what God would have for you to do. I pray that this will not happen, but that he will come to his senses.
You ask for a Bible text to put in a card. I don’t advise sending the card, but if you feel that it’s what God wants you to do, then here are a couple of texts that might be appropriate:
Psa 103:11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is [God’s] love for those who fear him;
Isa 54:10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Seek the Lord with all your heart,
