where does the origin of islamic suffering come from

This is well outside of my field (which is Biblical studies), but I can tell you this.  The first Muslim to suffer was Muhammed himself, when he was forced to flee Mecca for Medina.  If you are asking for the origin of evil (& suffering) in this world, I believe Muslims would point to Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden.
