Question I no nothing about Christianity or religion. So can you tell me why Jesus came to earth in human form and people killed him? Why did God send his own son to earth to be killed?
Answer Hi Ava! Thanks for the questions!
Well, one important thing to keep in mind is that there can only be one truth when it comes to religion... they can't all be right, they are exclusive. Christianity is different from every other religion in that it's follower didn't claim to simply know the path to God, Jesus said He IS God. Jesus came to earth for many reasons but the most important reason was actually to die for you and I. You see, before Jesus, people had to made sacrifices for their sin, which is any offense against God's law. The Bible clearly foretold that there would be a Messiah who would take away our sins and Jesus was clearly the one predicted, fulfilling hundreds of specific prophecies. He became the ultimate and perfect sacrifice for us so that whoever believes in Him will be saved and go to heaven. Those who reject Jesus will end up going to hell, which is eternal separation from God. People killed Jesus for different reasons but he angered many of the Roman and Jewish rulers. Some Romans wanted to kill Him because he caused an uproar and considered Himself to be a ruler. The Jewish rulers considered Jesus a blasphemer because the Messiah they were looking for wouldn't be human and would rule, not suffer and die. They didn't realize Jesus is coming back to fulfill those Scriptures and His first coming was to deal with the sin issue.
I encourage you to put all your trust in Jesus Christ because He is clearly God and He died for YOU. Find a Bible-focused church (I like Calvary Chapel) so you can learn more and start reading the bible. A good translation you can find anywhere is NIV or NKJV. There you will also meet some wonderful friends who will support you in your faith and life, something we all need.
I'm really proud of you investigating your faith and trying to learn more. So many people go through life thinking everything around you just popped into being and that we have no purpose in life. I don't think you take that for granted and I'm really glad you asked "why?"
I know I gave you a quick summary so if you have any more questions, please reply and I'll do my best to answer them.
My degrees and studies are mostly in Christian doctrine but I will answer questions having to do with almost any aspect of Christianity and The Bible.
