Question
is wasting food a sin according to the Bible?

Answer
Dear Carley,
I do not think I can give you a definitive verse on the subject, however, if we look at creation we see that nothing is wasted. I am sure there is a mater of degree to be taken into consideration in this question.
Proverbs 18:9  He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is A GREAT WASTER.
To be a great waster would be to despise the hand of God that feeds us. We certainly do not have to have abundance, many do not. It certainly would be better to find one in need to endow with our over abundance. As for things such as table scraps, they can be put to nature's use and composted, and used in the garden. Our natural endowments of creation have nothing to waste, it is only those things man has developed that we find no continuing use for.
I hope this helps,

The Bible contains an answer to all things necessary to life and salvation. We many times simple do not like the answer it gives. But, if your seeking the truth of God`s word, I can give my opinion and show from the Scriptures the basis for why I believe it is the correct interpretation of the Bible on most questions.
