AboutRev C.Brian Ross Expertise I am happy to offer answers to anyone with a question that refers to the Christian Faith in its widest possible sense. I believe that the Bible is the living Word of God, and seek to base all of my life on its teaching. I also have some knowledge of some of the cults, and of Islam and Judaism. Of course, my answers are just one man's thoughts, and I would always advise a questioner to check with others, and with the Word of God.
Experience Served as a full-time parish minister in Scotland for about six years, and then spent the last thirty as a teacher (now 'retired') of Religious Education in Secondary Comprehensive schools (ages 11-17) while continuing my own preaching and teaching ministry. I also believe that learning is a life-time process, and have recently completed a Master's degree in Divinity.

Question Where is it in the bible when God was angry with the Jewish people for disobedience and then opened up the promise to the Gentiles? I thought I remembered reading this in the bible.
Answer Hi Michelle!
Thank you for your question.
I suspect that you may be confusing two different issues here (although I may, of course, be wrong!). The promise to the Gentiles is found in a number of passages in the Old Testament. The book of the prophet Isaiah is particularly relevant. For example, in 42:6, the Servant is not only to be given to the people of Israel as a symbol of God’s covenant with them, but is also to be “… a light to guide the nations (Gentiles)” Further on, to give another example, in 60:3, the city of Jerusalem is told that “All nations (Gentiles) will come to your light”.
What is clear, throughout the Old Testament, is that while God chose the Children of Israel to be His special messengers, He had always, and from before the beginning of time, planned to call out from all nations, a people for Himself – “… a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, …” (Rev 7:9)
The other passage of which you may be thinking is in Gen.32 – especially v.10. Here, YHWH threatens to destroy the Children of Israel and make Moses into a great nation. It is an example of the humility of Moses that he does not grasp such an opportunity but, instead, intercedes with YHWH on behalf of the Israelites.
I trust that this will satisfactorily answer your question but, if you desire any further information, please feel free to ask. You maight also wish to check out my site at www.crazyrev.blogspot.com
