About Rev C.Brian Ross
Expertise I am happy to offer answers to anyone with a question that refers to the Christian Faith in its widest possible sense. I believe that the Bible is the living Word of God, and seek to base all of my life on its teaching. I also have some knowledge of some of the cults, and of Islam and Judaism. Of course, my answers are just one man's thoughts, and I would always advise a questioner to check with others, and with the Word of God.
Experience Served as a full-time parish minister in Scotland for about six years, and then spent the last thirty as a teacher (now 'retired') of Religious Education in Secondary Comprehensive schools (ages 11-17) while continuing my own preaching and teaching ministry. I also believe that learning is a life-time process, and have recently completed a Master's degree in Divinity.

Question Is homosexuality a sin and are homosexual couples doomed? The Mosaic law made a person righteous, they inherited the kingdom of God through obedience. But Jesus in the New Testament says that we are freed from the Mosaic law because the Son of Man came and died for our sins, and we are freed from our sins and we inherit eternal life with the condition that we believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose on the third day.
Answer Hello Gabriela.
Thank you for your very topical question – indeed, two questions!!
Yes, the practice of a homosexual relationship is a sin, abhorrent before God. This is made clear, not only in the Old Testament, but also in the New Testament. For example, Romans 1:26-27; I Corinthians 6:9-10; I Timothy 1:10. This is not to make homosexuality the worst of all sins - other sexual sins, as well as sins that have no sexual connection at all, are just as bad. Indeed, Jesus makes clear that the sins of the Jewish leaders of His time on earth (and we may be certain that these would not have been ‘physical’ sins) are worse that the sexual immorality of prostitutes! (Mathew 21:31-32). Nevertheless, it is clearly a sin.
However, the same Bible is a book of hope. God’s love (Greek agape, not eros!) is towards all of mankind and, in the atoning death and the resurrection, of the Lord Jesus, He has made the way open for all who come to Him, in repentance and faith, to receive forgiveness and newness of life (II Corinthians 5:17). So, the answer to your second question is: No, they are not – provided that they acknowledge their sinfulness, turn to the Lord for forgiveness, and turn away from their homosexual practice, through the power provided by the indwelling of God the Holy Spirit. You make the point, yourself, that salvation is conditional!
Homosexuality, even from a non-Biblical perspective, is unnatural. It is a simple, biological, fact that both male and female are necessary for the procreation of the human race. If everyone became homosexual/lesbian, then humanity would die out in just one generation! Passages such as Genesis 1:27-28, 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:8 make clear that God’s plan was for a monogamous relationship between one man and one woman. As someone has put it – God created Adam and Eve – not Adam and Steve, or Amanda and Eve!
I trust that this will have been of some help to you.
