Question
I read the response to the question about the snake in Numbers 21:4-9 and I thought it was a good one. I am curious about one thing, however. What happened to the snake?

I vaguely recall that in later years that it did become an idol and God ended up destroying it. Is this correct?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Answer
Hello,

Thanks for your question!

Yes, you’re right. The snake, in later years, did become an idol and King Hezekiah destroyed it.  II Kings 18:4 speaks of this:

“He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.”

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless!
