Question
When it says "we will meet him in the air" does the Hebrew word for "air" mean "sky" or "spirit"?
thank you

Answer
Hi Mike,

Thank-you for your question.

Actually, the book of 1 Thessalonians was originally written in Greek. In the verse you mentioned – 1 Thessalonians 4:17 – the Greek word translated ‘air’ is ‘aer’/‘aera’.  In the original Greek it’s quite clear that the word refers to the atmospheric region – ‘sky’ – rather than ‘spirit’.

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless!
