QuestionWhere in the bible does it say that God created the "birds of the air"?
AnswerDear William,
Thanks for your question about when God created the "birds of the air."
Although the Bible doesn't use quite the words you remember, it does speak of the subject:
Gen 1:20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky."
Gen 1:21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth."
Gen 1:23 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fifth day.
A belief in the Creation is an absolute must for a Christian. In fact the Bible is quite clear that Jesus, the Son of God, was actually the Creator:
John 1:1-14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 He was with God in the beginning.
John 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. . . .
John 1:10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. . . .
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
So Jesus, the Son of God, the Word--the ultimate Expression of the Father's love for us--actually created us in the beginning. And He not only created us, but He came into this world, took upon Himself human nature, lived a perfect life in this sin-stained world, and then died for us so that we could have eternal life. He rose again the third day, and 40 days later ascended into Heaven when He again sat on His throne, ruling the universe as before.
The only difference between our Creator before He came to earth and after He went back to Heaven was the fact that now the God of all creation rules in a human body--still bearing the marks of the wounds we gave Him on the cross. And His faithful people will soon live with Him in the place He has gone to prepare for them
John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God ; trust also in me.
John 14:2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Truly: God is love.
