Bible Studies/synotic gospels

Question
Pastor Don, Would you help me to explain the specific contribution of each of the three synoptic gospels to our understanding of Jesus as well as to the unity of the Gospel.

Answer
Hi Dave,

Thanks for this great question.  The Gospels all talk about the same Savior, Jesus Christ, but they all come at it from a different perspective.  If you cover one eye then look at a fixed spot, cover the other eye then uncover the first eye, it will seem like the spot moved... your other eye has a slightly different view of the same object.  The object did not change, only the perspective from which it was viewed changed.  Here are the perspectives for each of the 4 gospels, not just the Synoptic ones:

Matthew - Jesus, the King of Kings
Mark - Jesus, the Servant
Luke- Jesus the Son of Man
John - Jesus the Son of God

I hope that this helps you.

In Christ
Pastor Don

Expertise

I believe that every word of the Bible is God-Breathed. This blessed book is the foundation of truth for faith and practice. If you ask this volunteer a question you will receive an answer from the Bible that is based upon a litteral, normal interpretation, taking into account the grammar and culture of the time.

Experience

I have been in the ministry for almosat 20 years. During this time I served as youth pastor, assistant pastor, counselor, and Senior Pastor. Currently I serve as a Senior Pastor for an independent fundamental Baptist Church in New England.
