Bible Studies/Heaven

QuestionI have always been led to believe that heaven is somekind of other dimension but as I got older and started reading the bible for myself I have come to realize that heaven appears to be outer space. On this website I found a similar question and was answered with three heavens which I have read all about. People like to quote certain verses which you may want to do but I will simply reply with I believe this is somewhere in the universe that the verses are talking about. I believe God may very well dwell in the univers. I don't believe we will ever be advanced enough to get to where he is but the bible refers to God as physical many times as well as angels. The Univers is forever. It is an anomoly. When you look up tell me that their isn't something special about it. People do not like to discuss this but just ponder the thought. What if when Jesus comes back he comes straight from space. Every person would be in fear and shall confess that he is God. So what do you think. I think if you take the bible literaly then the discriptions are quite clear. No need to interpet just visualize what the great book is saying.
AnswerHi Canyon,
You raise some interesting questions. I would say that heaven is everywhere, in the sense that God is everywhere. That means it can be here on earth, in space, you name it. But I also believe that there are levels of heaven, though I do not have a clue what they're like, nor does anyone else I imagine. And of course, there's a hell. And we know that hell is separated from heaven, so that there is a clear distinction between them.
The Bible speaks of heaven as a place, with real objects that have tangible reality. The language used to describe heaven is the language of a physical reality, not etherial, but real. It is less spiritual and more physical. But obviously a perfected physical, whatever that is.
Since we know a lot less about heaven, though God could have given us a lot more information about it if He wanted to, it's my opinion that God wants us to concentrate our efforts to better ourselves with knowledge of Him and love of His son, Jesus Christ. Jesus spoke much more about how to be the right kind of people while we live on earth, than what we are to be when we live in heaven. It's the earth experience God and Jesus want us to concentrate on.
