Question
what is the understanding of her husband asking why, was she going to the prophet.he states that it was not a new moon or the sabbath.

Answer
Hello Sonya;

I think it would be like saying, "Why bother the pastor, today is his day off." The New Moon and the Sabbath were clearly "work" days for a prophet of God. Also, it would seem that the father doesn't think God will do anything unless it is what he feels is the correct day--a New Moon or a Sabbath. Meanwhile, the mother believes completely that God will help her. She tells her husband, "Peace," or "All will be well."

In the New Testament we see Jesus advise Jairus to keep his mouth shut lest his words of fear cancel the miracle Jesus intends to perform, a miracle He will perform based on Jairus' faith prior to hearing his daughter has died. When Jesus arrives at the home, He sends the mourners out and raises Jairus' daughter from the dead.

The father doesn't believe God works except on Sunday, the mother is convinced He is at work all the time and if she can reach the prophet all will be well.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

Expertise

I can answer questions on issues about evolution and creationism. I can answer questions on how the Bible applies to every day life and the future of mankind. I have some understanding of spiritual warfare. If I don`t know the answer to your question, I`m not going to try and pretend that I do. But every answer a questioner receives from any person, expert here or anywhere else, must be weighed against what the Bible says and laid before God in prayer. Spiritual issues are too important to just accept what a person tells you without confirmation from the Bible and the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who gives a person wisdom. He will give peace regarding how to handle any issue or teaching if it is correct.

Experience

I am a life long student of the Bible and have tested its teachings under fire and found them solid.

Education/Credentials
I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Art Education. I am a mother, and I think that is an educational qualification of itself.
