AboutRev C.Brian Ross Expertise I am happy to offer answers to anyone with a question that refers to the Christian Faith in its widest possible sense. I believe that the Bible is the living Word of God, and seek to base all of my life on its teaching. I also have some knowledge of some of the cults, and of Islam and Judaism. Of course, my answers are just one man's thoughts, and I would always advise a questioner to check with others, and with the Word of God.
Experience Served as a full-time parish minister in Scotland for about six years, and then spent the last thirty as a teacher (now 'retired') of Religious Education in Secondary Comprehensive schools (ages 11-17) while continuing my own preaching and teaching ministry. I also believe that learning is a life-time process, and have recently completed a Master's degree in Divinity.

Question Hi,
I know the Bible had said that two people shouldn't have sex before marriage. Is it a sin for two people in a relationship to live together even though nothing happened between them?
Answer Hi Shannon,
Thank you for your question. However, I am a wee bit confused. What do you mean by two people living "in a relationship" if there is no physical sexual activity? If there is no sex involved, I am unsure as to why you are concerned. If there is, then you are correct in saying that this would be sinful.
Certainly, many people live together - e.g. University students - with no physical relationship. They are friends who are maximising their resources, and there is nothing immoral about their communal living.
Having said all of that, I would advise that a couple who are, e.g., engaged to be married, would be wise NOT to live together. The devil knows our weaknesses, and sex is one of the ones that he exploits all too easily.
I hope that I have understood the situation correctly but, if I ahve not done so, please free to come back with some clarification.
