QuestionIn the 34th chapter of Ezekiel , verse 29. The bible says; "And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more."
My question is, What is meant by 'plant of renown'. Is it simply one plant that can fulfill the needs of man, or it referring to a garden containing many plants?
Answer The term is a participle for the verb "to plant", which means it can be translated as a noun or a verb. It can be a place for planting, or the act of planting. It is not an individual plant. It refers to a time when, or a place where God will make sure the land will not fail to produce plenty of food for the people.
In this context, I would go for the verb. God will make the whole land of Israel fertile and free of famine, making it known among the nations. In other words God will do the planting to make the land fertile.
I hope this is helpful
