QuestionSHALOAM,
Firstly, I would like to point out that there is not a single verse in the Bible where Jesus[PBUH] himself says that believe God has a triune nature or God is in three or trinity, I dont know where the church got that from, while every christain knows that Jesus[PBUH] did not himself unequivocally make such statements. So trinity, it occurs no where in the Bible.
Secondly, it is not mentioned in any of the coomandements that believe Jesus[PBUH] died for your sins for salvation, or believe in trinity. But when Jesus[PBUH] was asked regarding salvation in the Bible in Matthew chp.19 v.16-18, he said 'keep the commandements' then you have an eternal life. But that concept of salvation thought by the church is not part of the commandements and you even quoted from Mark 12:29-31 what Jesus[PBUH] said regarding the commandements. Now the question is, Why is the church not following what Jesus[PBUH] himself teaches clearly? And every good christain should also ask himself that same question, that is if he/she sincerely believes in every word of the Bible, and what Jesus[Pbuh] himself clearly[unequvocally] states, not reading between the lines.
The quotation you gave of John 6:50, again like I said you need to read the context it is very important, you quoted;
"I am the living Bread which came down from heaven; if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:51.
While we all know that this verse does not mean actually or physically eating the flesh and drinking the blood just like the Jews assumed in the verse, if you agree with that? we then have to read from the context to understand this statement.
Now for the context read from John 6:48, Jesus[PBUH]said 'he that believes in me has an everlasting life' which is the context to your quotation of John 6:51, and the meaning to 'if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever;'
This statement again will not mean that he(Jesus[PBUH]) is speaking of himself being a sacrifice to man and we all clearly know that, it simply means if you follow the teachings of Jesus[PBUH] you are following the teachings and commandements of God Almighty then you shall have an everlasting life, because God gives not Jesus[PBUH].
Regarding your question that, 'How do you believe what Jesus said in the verses you mention, since what He said was reported by the disciples who forsook Jesus and fled at the most crucial time of Jesus' life?'
Well I would like to let you know that Islam is the only none christain faith that makes it an article of faith to believe in Jesus[PBUH]. We believe he was one of the mightiest prophet and messenger of God Almighty sent on the face of the earth. we believe he was born miraclously without any male intervention which many modern day christains do not believe. We believe he gave life to the dead with God's permission, we believe he healed those born blind and lepered with God's permission. And the Quran makes mention of only 25 prophets out of the thousands of prophets that were sent on the face of the earth, and there were also various revelations that were sent on this earth, but by name only 4 are mentioned. Zabur[psalms] to Prophet David, Torah to Prophet Moses, Injil[Gospels] to Prophet Jesus and Quran to the last and final messenger Prophet muhammad, peace be on them all.
But the present Bible as we know is not the original revelation[injil] that was given to prophet Jesus[PBUH] at his time; the present Bible has undergone various changes and modifications throughout history. The present Bible contains the word of God, the word of prophets, words of historians and other statements that are not from God.
So the Quran being another revelation from God, it testifies prvious revelations hence, it is the strongest base for judging previous scriptures including the Bible. But I am not for a second trying to be bais or something, I am telling you the truth because the Quran up till today is the only religious scripture that has still maintained its original pure form for more than 13 centuries[ you can anytime try and confirm that if you wish].
AnswerDear Isa,
You are not taking your own advice of reading the Bible in context. Only the Word of God in written form and in human form (Jesus) can give you eternal life. Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." I pray that you will someday come to realize that you can never enter God's perfect eternity except through the perfect Sacrifice God provided for us. I pray that you will trust Jesus Christ as your Lord.
Thank you for your time and conversation.
Goodbye and may God continue to work in your life.
