Question
In Matt. 24 there are colons, while studying with friends on this chapter, I began to wonder, when I saw a total of four colons in verses 15 to 2o.  I wondered the significance of the colons.  What stood out the most was when we were discussing 20 and 21. If there is a significances, help us understand.

Answer
Matt.24:15-21 - Colons

I do not see a specific reason colons were used in these several verses, below.  It seems to me that a period would have done as well.  I do not believe that the colons take away from the  truth of the statements posed in these Scriptures.

Matt.24:15    When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Matt.24:16    Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Matt.24:17    Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

Matt.24:18    Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

Matt.24:19    And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

Matt.24:20    But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

Matt.24:21    For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
