Question
How or what does the bible say about cremation
Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for this great question. I have heard it taught that Christians bury and pagans burn. I do not find this in the Bible. Yes we know that Jesus was buried. But we also read about a Good King, Asa, who was cremated when he died. The Bible does not condemn it. I believe that God does not have a preference.
2 Chronicles 16:13-14
13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign. 14 And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries’ art: and they made a very great burning for him.
