Bible Studies/Torn Veil

Question
I have heard and read that since the Veil of the temple was torn we now have "access" to God. I have always been confused about this. Prior to this event does it imply that a Jew could not pray directly to God in the privacy of his home such as "Lord JEHOVA, forgive me for lusting after that women today?"

Answer
The renting of the veil indicates that henceforth that veil would not separate humanity from approaching God.  Through the salvific work of Jesus humanity would have unhindered access to God.  The renting may also indicate the end of the Temple worship system.
Check also Hebrews 6:19, 9:3, 10:20 for its theological interpretation.
That happening [and the veil itself]did not inmpede prayers to God by Jews.
PS: The usual spelling today of the sacred name of God is Yahweh.
Hope these thoughts help, Al.  Best wishes.
