Question
QUESTION: Hello Pastor Carpenter. My name is Kristine. I don't know if this is the right category to ask my question but maybe you can help me out or give me some advice or something but I was assigned to write a welcome speech for my Choir Anniversary and I was wondering if you knew any good quotes and scriptures I can use in my speech?

ANSWER: Hi Kristine,

Thank you for this great question.  I am so sorry for this late response.  Here are some verses about music and singing that may be appropriate.

Psa 40:3  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Psa 100:1  <A Psalm of praise.> Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Psa 100:2  Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Eph 5:19  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Eph 5:20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Psa 150:1  Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
Psa 150:2  Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
Psa 150:3  Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Psa 150:4  Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Psa 150:5  Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Psa 150:6  Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

I hope that this helps you.  I know you problaby have already written your letter, but I hope you can use this.

QUESTION: Thank you so much for the help Pastor. Sorry if I'm interrupting you but I have another question but this time it pertains to the Church Anniversary. I found scriptures that I can use such as Matthew 16:18. So my questions to you are... What can I say in my welcome speech and are there anymore scriptures that I can use for my speech?

Answer
Hello Kristine

Here are a few verses that you may use for this occasion:

Philippians 1:3-6
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,  4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; 6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Romans 1:8
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

1 Corinthians 1:4-9
4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; 5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; 6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:  8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

Ephesians 5:25-27
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

I hope that there is something that you can use here.
