Question
Where in the bible can I find the scriptures that state that jesus is Lord. I know he is but I have a group of Muslim friends who are constantly questioning me about Jesus. That is a good thing and I am a christian. I told them in his word that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ ids Lord.

Answer
Hello Faye;

Begin by praying for your Muslim friends. The Holy Spirit is the One who woos the person in his heart at exactly the right moments when the wooing is most effective with the exact right thoughts and ideas.

The four-step booklet is a useful tool for showing Muslims the plan of salvation. This site has a really good version of this:  http://bible.org/article/gods-plan-salvation .

Be patient. It takes awhile. Some Muslims face huge rejection from family and friends if they receive Jesus as Lord; in Muslim countries even death.

A question Muslims often ask me is where does Jesus say He is God. John 8:58 Jesus said, "Before Abraham was born, I AM." This alludes back to the Name God gave Himself when he met Moses in the burning bush, Exodus 3:14. Jesus also states several times that He and the Father are One and makes other similar statements. I also point out that it's not enough for a being to proclaim he is God. Persons have claimed they're god throughout time, they're doing it today. Jesus said, if you won't believe My Words, believe My miracles, John 10:38. The greatest of His miracles is His resurrection.

The Koran says that Jesus was not raised from the dead, but you and I know this isn't true. Proving He rose from the dead is simple. The Jewish historian, Josephus, lived about 70 years after Christ. He wrote a short paragraph on Jesus which I paraphrase here, "There was this Rabbi called Jesus who had a great following. He was crucified and His disciples claimed he rose from the dead." Other historical evidence exists proving Jesus actually lived on planet earth. Jesus' disciples were in the position to know the truth about His resurrection--whether they stole the body from the tomb or whatever. All of them, except John, were martyred for preaching Jesus raised from the dead. A man will die for the truth, but he will not die for something he knows is a lie! By their deaths the disciples prove Jesus was raised from the dead.

If your Bible has a concordance in the back you can find many Scriptures as long as you know key words. You quote "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess Jesus is Lord." You can find that Scripture in your concordance by looking for "knee," "tongue," "confess," "Lord." In my NIV I found this Scripture under "tongue" in the concordance, Philippians 2:11.

"Lord" has a lot of listings, but you know you can ignore all the ones from the Old Testament because the verse you want is found in the New Testament. My NIV has two separate sections devoted to Lord. That is because in the Old Testament one of God's ancient Names is translated LORD, so it has it's own section. Each listing will have a snippet of the verse after the Scripture reference so you get a vague idea of what the verse says. Doing a study of "Lord" this way might not be a bad idea. I've done this in the past, used my concordance to give me focus in study.

II Corinthians 4:5; Romans 10:9-13, two passages about "Jesus is Lord."

If you don't have a Bible with a concordance, get one. Also a study Bible can be very useful for the notes it will include which help illuminate the Scriptures. My Scofield NIV has expanded concordance with topical listings--such as almost everything about Jesus under headings like: Early Life, Ministry, Lamb, Lion, etc.

Excerpt from the "Son of Hamas", from the Joel Rosenberg review of the book: "...after being released from Israeli prison, Mosab was walking past the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. Someone -- not knowing who he was -- invited him to a Bible study. Curious, he attended. They studied the New Testament, and gave Mosab a copy to read for himself. "I began at the beginning [in the Gospel According to Matthew], and when I got to the Sermon on the Mount, I thought, Wow, this guy Jesus is really impressive! Everything He says is beautiful! I couldn't put the book down. Every verse seemed to touch a deep wound in my life. It was a very simple message, but somehow it had the power to heal my soul and give me hope. Then I read this: `You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.' (Matthew 5:43-45)....I was thunderstruck by these words. Never before had I heard anything like this, but I knew that this was the message I had been searching for all my life." (p.122)"

My prayers go with you,

Expertise

I can answer questions on issues about evolution and creationism. I can answer questions on how the Bible applies to every day life and the future of mankind. I have some understanding of spiritual warfare. If I don`t know the answer to your question, I`m not going to try and pretend that I do. But every answer a questioner receives from any person, expert here or anywhere else, must be weighed against what the Bible says and laid before God in prayer. Spiritual issues are too important to just accept what a person tells you without confirmation from the Bible and the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who gives a person wisdom. He will give peace regarding how to handle any issue or teaching if it is correct.

Experience

I am a life long student of the Bible and have tested its teachings under fire and found them solid.

Education/Credentials
I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Art Education. I am a mother, and I think that is an educational qualification of itself.
