Question
We know only God can forgive sins yet isn't John 20:23 clearly
says that Apostles were given this authority?

We are His apostles have been given the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is God. God is a Spirit (John4:24)  He lives in us and is part of us. So "us" in Christ can forgive sins. Because it is God who is forgiving them not the personality of the person with whom God shares the temple.

So in effect it is God who is forgiving the sins.


Those sold out to God, in Christ, house the Spirit of God.


Can you see this? No man can forgive sins without the Spirit of God but the Spirit of God is real and is real person dwelling in us.
