Question
QUESTION: Hi Pastor Don

I've been listening and viewing Daniel C Pack's web site and he certainly makes a lot of sense.

Concerning the Sabbath Day; where the Lord JESUS said, " . . . to not
work on that day and keep in holy."
The fourth commandment certainly has got me goin' in all kinds of directions.

!. Do I as a born again Christian keep on attending services on Sunday at me church.
2. Or stop going on Sunday and go on Saturday of which is the seventh day the Lord had rested.

My brother Christian tells me that's the old law the Jews kept. The new testament doesn't say anything about attending church on Saturday.

Now Pastor Don. The Ten Commandments are in the Old Testament. Do I follow ALL THE LAWS THEREIN ? The way the Jews do ?

Puzzled, Confused am I.

Which way do I turn to follow the law and statures of JESUS ?

Thank You
GOD BLESS

ANSWER: Hi Ray,

Thank you for this great question.  There are a few things that we need to know about the Sabbath as Christians on this side of Calvary.  I will try to  be brief and to the point, but I will gladly answer follow up questions if this is not enough information.

Do I as a born again Christian keep on attending services on Sunday at me church?

We need to remember that keeping the Sabbath meant not to work....  people worshipped on many different days through out the Old and New Testament.

The New Testament Pattern was to worship on The First Day of the week and sometimes to worship every day.

Acts 20:7 (AV)
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

1 Corinthians 16:2 (AV)
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Acts 2:46 (AV)
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

So Biblically there is nothing wrong with going to church on Sunday.

Or stop going on Sunday and go on Saturday of which is the seventh day the Lord had rested.

Now here is the rub!  SDA folks correctly tell us that the Sabbath was never changed from Saturday to Sunday.  They correctly tell us that it is the Catholics, not the Bible, that changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday.  HOWEVER... Biblically, we do not KEEP Sunday because the Sabbath was not changed from Saturday to Sunday,,, the Sabbath was NAILED TO THE CROSS... we are no longer bound to keep it as the people if Israel were bound.

Colossians 2:14–16 (AV)
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

The Apostle Paul tells us that the Sabbath is now a matter of personal choice between the believer and God.  Either choice is fine.

Romans 14:5–6 (AV)
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

I hope that this helps you.

QUESTION: Dear Pastor Don

I was wondering why you quoted from the AV BIBLE ?

I never heard of this Bible ?

How long has if been in existence ?

Thank You Pastor Don
GOD BLESS YOU
Ray M.

Answer
Hi Ray,

The AV stands for the Authorized Version, or the King James Version.  The computer program I use to insert the verses cites the King James as the AV.... it is the same Bible.

By the way this year is its 400th anniversary!

I hope that this helps you.
