Question
Hello Todd Tyszka,

I am sure you familiar with the parable of seeds which fell in all kinds of different soils and places. I have a question related in particular to the seed that feel on the rocky ground, which Jesus explained are the people who hear the Good News and receive it with joy yet it gets choked because they get caught up in the worries of this life.

Well what exactly is getting caught up in the worries of this life? As long as we are here, we will have to make a living and we will have to deal with the issues of this life everyday for many hours of everyday: everything from paying bills to family relationships and issues.

When does this become a problem? What does a person caught up in the worries of this life look like and how does one avoid such a trap?

Thanks,
Tressa

Answer
Hi Tressa,
Thank you for your question. Forgive me for not answering sooner but I got caught up in the worries of Christmas! :) Anyway, this becomes a problem when the worries of this life take precedence over Christ, and His centrality to our life. Most people who call themselves Christians do precisely this. They say a prayer once but then they spend very little time focused on the Lord- whether it's praying, reading the Bible, bearing fruit for God's glory, doing things out of faith in God... even just going to church. We obviously have a lot to be concerned with on this earth but we need to involve Christ in these concerns. Jesus is there to help us in all these things if we let Him. He is always interceding for us and wanting to help us if we let Him. We need to seek His will and aim to accomplish it in all we do.

I hope this helps and I especially hope you put Christ first in everything. Don't let anything distract and choke out His centrality in your life. This life is just a speck compared to all of eternity!

All the best,
Todd
