Question
I just wanna ask, what are the color of Joseph's coat, is there a meaning in every color. is it true that a part of the coat is from the coat of Abraham and Jacob?

Sorry for not answering sooner but allexperts didn't send me a notice of your question.

I'm also sorry that I don't know all of the colors of Joseph's coat. It's very possible that it included parts of other coats though. In that society, almost everything had a meaning beyond its use. For example, even now red is associated with anger, blue is associated with calmness, black with death, white with purity, green with life and so on. Colors are often associated with people's character too. Yellow, for example might remind of someone who seems to always be happy and smiling. This is a reason behind those cartoon like "Smiley faces" being yellow. So, I'd guess that the colors of Joseph's coat could have represented each of the 12 tribes of Israel which, in turn, represented the most outstanding character, as seen by their father, of each of the brothers who founded them.

I don't know if this helps you a lot, but it should aid you in your thinking about whether or not it would be very important to know these things for certain. Personally, it wouldn't help me know the difference between right and wrong, good or bad. Nor would it help me to understand God who is love, and those are the really important things people need to learn from the Bible. The rest is just trivia, so to speak.

My education puts me second to none in this area and I have had over forty years experience in the area of teaching Christian theology, doctrine, apologetics, hermeneutics, history, and philosophy. It's quite obvious that the Bible is not easy to comprehend thus all the divided opinions about what it teaches. I am finalizing a short treatise on the Bible that I believe will help a lot of people who seriously want to get a clear understanding of what the Bible actually has to say to everyone, a treatise that should take the mystery out of it and show that it really makes sense. People deserve help in recognizing the truth about what the Bible says because there is so much false teaching about it that is actually leading people away from God instead of to God.
