Bible Studies/isaiah 11:9

The versus leading up to Isaiah 11:9 talk about the lion laying down with the lamb etc. Verse 9 states "and there will a full knowledge of God" What does that mean "a full knowledge of God?" Does it mean that since we will see the peace around us that we will realize is peaceful. Or does it mean God will give a special dispensation of the knowledge of himself. Or does it mean something else. I am very interested in this. Thank you

Hello again, Pete,

You asked about "a full knowledge of God" with reference to Isa. 11:9, "for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."

A "full knowledge of God" would indicate a completeness of knowledge, to the extent that one has no further questions.

A situation in which "the earth is full of the knowledge of the Lord" would indicate a time when there is no one on earth who does not have at least some knowledge of the Lord.  The ideal will be when both the earth is full of that knowledge, and when every individual on earth has a full knowledge of God.

Jeremiah wrote concerning this future time, "And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." (Jer. 31:34).
For God to forgive them, they must first repent.

You are correct in mentioning peace.  It will be a peacefulness that the world has not known since before the sin of Adam and Eve.  The external peace will produce an internal peace of mind, that all men have sought, and few have found in "this present evil world" (Gal. 1:4).

As for a "special dispensation", we are reluctant to use that phrasing since it has a particular meaning for members of some of the larger religious organizations.  However, when we become spirit beings, it will be easier for us to understand our Father and Christ, who are spirit beings.
Paul talked about "seeing through a glass darkly" regarding our future life (1Cor. 13:12).  John wrote about seeing God as he is, when we shall be like him (1Jn. 3:2).  Being human and subject to physical death, it is difficult to fully imagine being an eternal spirit.  Everything we know now is temporary.  That is all going to change soon.

This touches on a number of other topics, too many to address here.  If you have other questions on this or other topics, feel free to ask.

Anyone can read the Bible but sometimes it helps to have someone assist with the understanding (Acts 8:26-40). Truth comes from God through his holy spirit of truth (Jn. 16:13, 1Cor. 2:12), which is available to anyone who believes, repents and seeks God fervently and wholeheartedly, with humility, faith and persistence (Mat. 7:7, Deu. 4:29, Isa. 66:2, Jas. 4:1-10, Phil. 2:12). Truth is not limited to, or by, manís religious organizations, church traditions, popular beliefs or personal opinions (Jn. 8:32, 14:6). We will try to help anyone who is trying to understand scripture or Christian living. [Please do not submit homework questions as they will be rejected.]

Organizations are of men, not God. While God may use some of them to facilitate his plan, organizations train their people to follow, not to lead. God was able to create the whole Creation, as we see it, in only six days, because he did not use a committee. Ten years after 9/11, the only thing approved for construction at the New York site was a mosque.
