ANSWER: Greetings Prashant,

The following paragraph is quoted from Wikipedia.

"While the birth year of Jesus is estimated among modern historians to have been between 7 and 2 BC, the exact month and day of his birth are unknown.[16][17] His birth is mentioned in two of the four canonical gospels. By the early-to-mid 4th century, the Western Christian Church had placed Christmas on December 25,[18] a date later adopted in the East,[19][20] although some churches celebrate on the December 25 of the older Julian calendar, which corresponds to January in the modern-day Gregorian calendar. The date of Christmas may have initially been chosen to correspond with the day exactly nine months after early Christians believed Jesus to have been conceived,[21] or with one or more ancient polytheistic festivals that occurred near southern solstice (i.e., the Roman winter solstice); a further solar connection has been suggested because of a biblical verse[a] identifying Jesus as the "Sun of righteousness"."

As the reference in Wikipedia points out, the exact day, month and year of Christ's birth are unknown.  There is no Biblical instruction for God's children to celebrate December 25, or any other date, as the date of Christ's birth.  The Biblical accounts of the time period near Christ's birth would lead one to believe that His birth occurred either in the Spring or in the Fall since there were shepherds and flocks still in the fields which would not have been the case during the cold of winter in that area of the world.

There are many instructions from God listed in the Bible regarding measuring time as well as very specific instructions to the ancient Israelites (descendents of Abraham) regarding the counting of time and when to observe the Holy Days that God commanded them to observe (Leviticus 23).  The very first reference to time that God makes clear is at the very beginning of Genesis.

"God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.  So the evening and the morning were the first day." Genesis 1:3

From this scripture we can tell that God considers the end of each day to be at sunset and the beginning of the next day should begin immediately after sunset, and not as man currently measures the beginning of the day, at midnight.
There are also references to the "first day of the first month" as far back as Genesis 8:13. The first day of the first month being in the Spring and not at the beginning of January, either the middle of winter or summer, depending on in which hemisphere one resides.

Our reasons for making these points is that the measurement of time is something that God knows in great detail and is able to give detailed specifics if He so chooses as in the examples listed above.  Mankind has, over the centuries, invented many different methods of measuring time including what day and month to celebrate Christ's birth and the measurement of centuries.

I can not tell you the day, month, year or century of Christ's birth.   There are some of God's children that do not celebrate Christmas or Christ's birth at all.  Consider that if God had thought it necessary for mankind to know and celebrate the exact date, the exact year of His first born Son's birth then He would have made sure that the information was made known to mankind.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you."  Matthew 6:33

Since the Bible does not say when Christ was born, nor are there records outside the Bible that accurately refer to Christ's birth, there is no way of pin pointing the century in which Christ was born.  I could guess and say it might have been shortly before the first century AD but this is just supposition on my part.

Just an opinion, but it could be that God's decision not to provide physical proof of Christ's birth or existence, other than the Bible, is a way for those of us that believe that Christ is God's first born Son to show it by having faith in what we can not see or have no record of.  Without proof, even a birth day, year or even century, it takes faith to believe that Christ is real and that He is God's Son.

If this is truly important to you then ask God for the answer.  We are told that  as long as we are patient and willing to listen to God that we only have to ask in faith, and we will receive an answer.

"And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive."  Matthew 21:22

"And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."  Luke 11:9

Anyone can read the Bible but sometimes it helps to have someone assist with the understanding (Acts 8:26-40). Truth comes from God through his holy spirit of truth (Jn. 16:13, 1Cor. 2:12), which is available to anyone who believes, repents and seeks God fervently and wholeheartedly, with humility, faith and persistence (Mat. 7:7, Deu. 4:29, Isa. 66:2, Jas. 4:1-10, Phil. 2:12). Truth is not limited to, or by, man’s religious organizations, church traditions, popular beliefs or personal opinions (Jn. 8:32, 14:6). We will try to help anyone who is trying to understand scripture or Christian living. [Please do not submit homework questions as they will be rejected.]

Organizations are of men, not God. While God may use some of them to facilitate his plan, organizations train their people to follow, not to lead.
