Question
How old were the apostles at the time of the crucifixion?  How old were they when they died?  What examples of spirituality was displayed by Andrew?  Why is he considered a saint?

Answer
Richard, I've got some great news for you.  The name Andrew does not often appear in the Bible. You can look at the passages listed below and answer your own question.

Most of the time, Andrew is simply mentioned; however in John 6:8, his words are recorded. Mark 13:3,4 record an important question he asked Jesus in the company of Peter, James, and John. He brought, in the company of Philip, a report to Jesus regarding the Greeks who were seeking Him (John 12:22)

Here is a list of every text in the NT that mentions Andrew:

Mt 4:18 ¶  And walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

Mt 10:2  Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Mr 1:16  And as He was going along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen.

Mr 1:29 ¶  And immediately after they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

Mr 3:18  and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot;

Mr 13:3  And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately,

Lu 6:14  Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew;

Joh 1:40  One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

Joh 1:44  Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.

Joh 6:8  One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, *said to Him,

Joh 12:22  Philip *came and *told Andrew; Andrew and Philip *came, and they *told Jesus.

Ac 1:13  And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying; that is, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.

After you have thought about it some more, let me know.
