Bible Studies/Book of Hebrews
Expert: Germania Rodriguez - 1/10/2005
QuestionYou answered my previous question concerning the Lamb's book of life and someone has asked me another question.Who wrote the book of Hebrews, to what people was it intended for and what was the purpose of the book of Hebrews. I honestly don't know if Paul wrote the book. My bible says it was written for Jewish believers who were torn between their new faith and their old ways. I think the purpose was to make the Jewish people see that salvation by faith in Christ is better than the old ways. I am interested in what your basis on the qestions are. I am in no way qualified to tell someone answers that I may or may not be right in. If I am going to help someone write a thesis on the book of Hebrews I sure as heck want to know if my answers are right. Thank you so much for any and all your help. God bless.

AnswerBarbara,
Hello. The Bible does not give an author's name for the book of Hebrew. Bible professors and scholars worldwide believe that Hebrews' content is very similar to that of the apostle paul.
The book of Hebrews was written to teach Jewish Christians that the Christian faith is better in every way than the Jewish faith. Th book shows how Jesus completed the Jewish faith by making the final sacrifice for sin.
After His death, none of the Old Testament sacrifices were needed. Chapter 11--the famous chapter on men of faith of the Old Testament times--gives Christians examples to follow of faith and trust in God.
I hope this helps.
