-----Question-----
What is the greek word for CROSS as found in the NT, and what is it's meaning?
-----Answer-----
The Greek word is stauros:  a stake or post, a pole or cross.  Used as an instrument of capital punishment.

Figuratively,in the New Testament: exposure to death, i.e. self-denial., by implication, the atonement of Christ:

Answer
Sorry, my mistake.

I was adding  a cut and paste from Strong's Concordance and pasted incorrectly.

There should have been a hard  break between "figuratively" and "by implication".   The meaning is that sometimes when the word "cross" is used in the Bible it implies and includes the whole ATONEMENT of Christ for our sins.
