What is armageddon and the day of reckoning? Are they mentioned anywhere in the bible besides Revelation 16:16?

The name "Armageddon" appears in Revelation 16:16.  It refers to the ancient hill and Valley of Megiddo, west of the Jordan in the Jezreel plain--specifically, some say, Har Megido, in Hebrew, meaning "Hill of Megiddo."  The Valley of Megiddo figures in many battles throughout history.

Solomon had military horse stables near Megiddo.  

It is the appointed site of the final battle of time as we know it before the Millennial reign of Christ.  Besides the book of Revelation see also:  Joel 3:9-16; Zechariah 12:1-9; 14:1-4; Matthew 24:27-30; Luke 17:37.  The battle is the fulfillment of Daniel 2:35, the striking stone that puts an end to Gentile rule.
