Question
Hello = thankyou for taking my question. In Ephesians 1:3 paul states that we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in heaven: Am I interpreting this correctly to mean that does not refer to material things, but rather, that we are blessed with things - some of which we cannot necessarily feel or experience here on earth, but are still greatly recognized and imparted to us by God in heaven? Could you help me understand this a little more? thanks. PETE

Answer
Hi Pete,

Yes, you are right. What Paul is talking about in this verse are spiritual blessings--those blessings that relate to our spiritual well-being. These include our salvation, our sanctification, our ongoing maturity in Christ, and the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that come by being filled with the Holy Spirit. These are the blessings that REALLY matter ... that REALLY satisfy the hungry soul!

Expertise

I have studied the Bible and Bible-related topics since the time I was very young. My education includes a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Bible, and a Master of Divinity degree. I enjoy delving into deep theological issues and always enjoy a healthy debate. But more importantly, I like working with people and helping them to find the answers that they are looking for. And I am convinced that these answers are available in the Bible.

Experience

By the grace and mercy of God, I have been saved, born again, adopted into the family of God. God has given me a love for the Bible, and for Bible-related subjects. In addition, He has blessed me with ongoing training in the Scriptures, from my youth on up. The more I learn about God through His Word, the more I want to share!
