Question
Since we are all descendents of Adam and Eve, how did we end up Jew and Gentile? Was it because of Abrahams offspring or does it have something to do with Noah and his family?
Hi Sean,
You have it exactly. God entered into an eternal covenant with Abraham that his descendants (through his wife Sarah and son Isaac) and they (the Jews) became the Chosen of God, the Elect. Everyone who is not part of the Abrahamic and Mosaic covenant are Gentiles (people of the nations).
It is also important to understand that while Abraham was a Semite (a descendant of Noah's son Shem) not all Jews are Semites and not all Semites are of the Elect (for instance Arabs are Semites but they are still considered Gentiles).
It is for this reason that the term antisemitism refers not to Semites but to Jews, whether they are Semitic or not.
