QuestionThanks for that answer Dean, but suppose one has spoken against the Holy Spirit in the past and wants to accept Jesus Christ after a few year will he be accepted or is he to go to hell no matter what he does?
AnswerThere shouldn't be any fear in that case. If there is a desire on the part of a person to accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior, THEY HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT AT WORK IN THEM!
This desire to belong to God and receive His Son as their savior can only take place by the power of the Holy Spirit working through the word of promise.
It is always God's desire to give us eternal life with Him. He never changes in this desire.
On the other hand, Satan, "the accuser" is always trying to convince us that we are too evil or have done too many sins for God to love us and want us to be with Him.
Anyone who trusts in God's promises, has them. It is man who backs away from God's love and not God Who backs away from us.
Deut 31:6
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
(from New International Version)
Rom 10:8-13
"The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
(from New International Version)
