Question
Are there any specific stories or events?  I know he was Jesus of Nazareth and that Christianity came from Judaism, but beyond that?

Question -
What stories and events from the Gospels and other Christian Scriptures (New Testament) are illustrations of how the Jewish culture and traditions of Jesus' time influenced his life and message?

Answer -
Your question, Teresa, is so vast, I am at a loss to respond.  Jesus lived in a Jewish milieu, which influenced the way in which He acted and spoke.
I was trying to find a book to which I could refer you but have not yet been able to find one that addresses your concern.
If you read the gospel of Matthew, you will find many references to Jesus' reaction to his milieu.  If you do that and then have any specific questions, please write again.
If you would like for me to say more, I'll be pleased to do so.
Best wishes.

Answer
Jesus lived in a locality where he had to interact constantly with the local religious leaders.  He saw many deficiencies in the Jewish beliefs and practices of the day.  See, for example, Matthew Chapters 5 through 7 --  Jesus criticizes what was and lays out a plan for a new relationship with God.
Later, the question arose among Jesus' first followers whether Gentiles [non-Jews] had to become Jewish in order to be true disciples of Jesus.  The answer was NO.  These events appear in Acts Chapter 10 and 15.  Paul speaks of the same issue in Romans Chapters 1 through 8.
I urge you to read these passages.  Then, we can continue in an orderly way.
Again, thanks for your interest.
Best wishes.
