Question
QUESTION: Dear Brenda, hello , i do respect your knowledge about Studying the Bible , but do you know that Jesus has said a prophecy about his comforter/advant who is comming after him ? also do you know the word ALAH what does means in ARamic/hebrew language? and in Arabic....???

Regards
Aziz

ANSWER: "COMFORTER WHO IS COMING AFTER HIM ?"

Note that Jesus said that his going away would make his apostles orphans, but not for long, as the “spirit of truth”, the paraclete, the “helper” or “comforter”, was to come. He further told them that they would be baptized with this spirit of truth “NOT MANY DAYS after this” and that they were to remain in Jerusalem until this spirit came. Surely all these promises and commands would not make sense if the apostles were to wait six centuries until Muhammad came.

True, the holy spirit was upon Jesus, but it is very apparent that, until it was given to them at Pentecost, without Jesus his apostles were very much like lost children. They went back to their fishing business; they presumed to elect an apostle to take the place of Judas; they had no message for the Jews. With the spirit’s outpouring at Pentecost all this changed! From then on the apostles confidently went forward with the work of preaching, making converts by the thousands. (John 21:3; Acts 1:4, 5, 15-26; 2:32-36, 41; 4:4)

The comforter was & is God’s holy spirit or active force which he poured out on these first century Christians.

THE WORD ALAH WHAT DOES MEANS IN ARAMAIC /HEBREW, ARABIC....???

Some think that “Jehovah” in Hebrew means “Allah” (God). But “Allah” corresponds, in Hebrew, to ’Elo•him´, the plural of majesty of the word ’eloh´ah (god).

Viewed as a personal name, Allah is a contraction of Al-Ilah, Arabic words meaning “The God”

God personal name YHWH was in the original bible over 7,000 times, the churches took it out & replaced it with GOD or LORD, Allah means God, not Jehovah. (Psalms 83;18)

QUESTION: Thanks Brenda for your answer , but i disagree with about Paraclete name & ALAH , if you read Deut 18:17-18  he is saying that 1-a prophet will come from among the brethern of israelites . 2-this prophet will be like unto Moses. 3- God will put his words ib the mouth of this prophet.   as you know that we children of abrham , abraham has two sons from two wives , Ishmael & Isaac from another wife , now those are brothers and jesus refering to this brothern  from Ishmael decendant family  Read Genesis 25:18 .
also this prophet wil be like Moses in character which means similar , & jesus is complete different than both of Moses and Muhammed as both they lived in unusual conditions , whereas Jesus has unususal life. ...

Regarding ALLAH  - as youo know Aramic and Hebrew are sister Language with ARABIC , so all these names are similar to arabic names aiming to the LORD the creator of this universe the sustainer...
..............

we Muslims we have no prolem with all prophets Jesus and Moses and others we respect them all as a messengers of God , they were having one message to worship one God . read John 14:1,16,17  and John 16:13-14 ...

Best Regards

Answer
Hello Aziz, you said "DEUT 18:17-18  HE IS SAYING THAT 1-A PROPHET WILL COME FROM AMONG THE BRETHERN OF ISRAELITES .

Through Moses, God had foretold the coming of a great prophet. (De 18:18) In Jesus¡¯ day Jews were waiting for this one. (Joh 6:14) The way in which the apostle Peter used Moses¡¯ words, at Acts 3:22, 23, indicates he knew they would be accepted as Messianic in nature even by religious opposers, and this gives evidence of widespread understanding of Deuteronomy 18:18. The Samaritan woman by the well also thought the Messiah would be a prophet. (Joh 4:19, 25, 29) People expected the Messiah to perform signs.¡ªJoh 7:31.

Jesus, the Messiah, was ¡°The Prophet,¡± the long-awaited one foretold by Moses. (Joh 1:19-21, 25-27; 6:14; 7:40; De 18:18, 19; Ac 3:19-26) His ability to perform powerful works and to discern matters in a way beyond the ordinary caused others to recognize him as a prophet. (Lu 7:14-16; Joh 4:16-19; compare  2Ki 6:12.)

2-THIS PROPHET WILL BE LIKE UNTO MOSES.

Jesus¡ªA Prophet Like Moses

Here are some of the ways in which Jesus proved to be like Moses:

¡ø Moses and Jesus both escaped the wholesale slaughter of male infants as ordered by the ruler of their time.¡ªExodus 1:22; 2:1-10; Matthew 2:13-18.

¡ø Moses was called out of Egypt with Jehovah¡¯s ¡°firstborn,¡± the nation of Israel. Jesus was called out of Egypt as God¡¯s firstborn Son.¡ªExodus 4:22, 23; Hosea 11:1; Matthew 2:15, 19-21.

¡ø Moses and Jesus both fasted for 40 days in wilderness locations.¡ªExodus 34:28; Matthew 4:1, 2.

¡ø Moses and Jesus were exceptionally meek and humble.¡ªNumbers 12:3; Matthew 11:28-30.

¡ø Moses and Jesus both performed miracles.¡ªExodus 14:21-31; Psalm 78:12-54; Matthew 11:5; Mark 5:38-43; Luke 7:11-15, 18-23.

¡ø Moses and Jesus both served as mediators of covenants between God and His people.¡ªExodus 24:3-8; 1 Timothy 2:5, 6; Hebrews 8:10-13; 12:24.

3- GOD WILL PUT HIS WORDS IN THE MOUTH OF THIS PROPHET.

The apostle Peter applied this prophecy to Jesus Christ when he stated: ¡°Moses said, ¡®Jehovah God will raise up for you from among your brothers a prophet like me. You must listen to him according to all the things he speaks to you.¡¯¡± (Acts 3:22) In fact, Jesus himself had stated: ¡°If you believed Moses you would believe me, for that one wrote about me.¡± (John 5:46)

Jesus said: ¡°I do nothing of my own initiative; but just as the Father taught me I speak these things.¡± (John 8:28)

He said: ¡°I have come in the name of my Father.¡± (John 5:43)

Jesus also said: ¡°He that speaks of his own originality is seeking his own glory.¡±¡ªJohn 7:18.

Through a commission set forth at Isaiah 61:1, we find that Almighty God foretold that his Son would be a preacher and teacher of men, for it states that ¡°Jehovah has anointed me to tell good news to the meek ones.¡± In similar vein, through his prophet Ezekiel, Jehovah said: ¡°I will raise up over them one shepherd, and he must feed them, even my servant David. He himself will feed them, and he himself will become their shepherd.¡± (Ezek. 34:23)

JESUS REFERRING TO THIS BROTHER FROM ISHMAEL DESCENDANT FAMILY READ GENESIS 25:18

Moses wrote the book of Genesis, this is his words, not Jesus. Now go back to verse 11 & we read ¡°after Abraham¡¯s death God continued to bless Isaac his son¡¡±

Go back further to verse 5 we read ¡°Abraham gave everything he had to Isaac, but to the sons of the concubines that Abraham had Abraham gave gifts. Then he sent them away from Isaac his son¡±

Ishmael, as Abraham¡¯s oldest son, was prospective heir for about 14 years. (Ge 16:16; 17:18-21; 21:5) But at Sarah¡¯s request and with Jehovah¡¯s approval, Abraham dismissed Ishmael, then about 19 years of age. Isaac then possessed the firstborn¡¯s right and later received everything that Abraham had, with the exception of gifts that Abraham gave to sons later born to him by Keturah. (Ge 21:8-13; 25:5, 6)

WE MUSLIMS WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH ALL PROPHETS JESUS AND MOSES AND OTHERS WE RESPECT THEM ALL AS A MESSENGERS OF GOD , THEY WERE HAVING ONE MESSAGE TO WORSHIP ONE GOD .

Yes I know; as I have spoken to many Muslims over the years, you believe that Jesus was one of the prophets, as was Muhammad, and that Muhammad (570-632 C.E.) was the Comforter foretold by Jesus, you also believe that Muhammad was the last and most important prophet & strongly believe that God has no son.

Can I ask; do you believe that Jesus was a true prophet? Then what he said was from God and if other teachings do not agree with it, they must be from another source, is that not so?

On the night of Nisan 14, Jesus likened himself to ¡°the true vine,¡± in contrast with the ¡®degenerate vine¡¯ of unfaithful Israel. He said: ¡°I am the true vine, and my Father is the cultivator.¡± (John 15:1)

John 14:1,16,17

On Nisan 14 in the year 33 C.E. a small group of men were meeting in an upper room in Jerusalem after sundown. Their Leader was giving them farewell counsel and encouragement. In part he said: ¡°Do not let your hearts be troubled.¡± (John 14:1) His words were very timely, for shattering events were soon to occur. That night he was arrested, tried, and condemned to be executed.

As the meeting with his 11 faithful apostles progressed, Jesus informed them that soon he would no longer be with them in the flesh. But he assured them: ¡°I will request the Father and he will give you another helper to be with you forever.¡± (John 14:16) The promised helper is God¡¯s holy spirit. It would teach them deep things of the Scriptures and bring back to their minds what Jesus had taught them during his earthly ministry.¡ªJohn 14:26.

From heaven, Jesus poured out the promised holy spirit upon his followers on the day of Pentecost in 33 C.E. (Acts 1:4, 5; 2:1-11) As a helper, the spirit gave them increased understanding of God¡¯s will and purpose and opened up his prophetic Word to them. (1 Corinthians 2:10-16; Colossians 1:9, 10; Hebrews 9:8-10) That helper also empowered Jesus¡¯ disciples to be witnesses in all the earth. (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 3:5, 6)

John 16:13-14 ...

¡°The spirit of the truth¡± was poured out at Pentecost 33 C.E. when about 120 disciples who gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem were baptized with holy spirit. (Acts 2:1-4) The apostle Peter was among those present for that annual festival. Filled with holy spirit, Peter ¡°stood up¡± and amplified, or clarified, certain truths about Jesus. He recounted, for example, how ¡°Jesus the Nazarene¡± was ¡°exalted to the right hand of God.¡± (Acts 2:14, 22, 33) God¡¯s spirit also moved Peter to declare boldly to his Jewish listeners: ¡°Let all the house of Israel know for a certainty that God made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you impaled.¡± (Acts 2:36) As a result of Peter¡¯s spirit-inspired message, about three thousand persons ¡°embraced his word heartily¡± and got baptized. In this way, God¡¯s holy spirit helped to guide them into the truth.¡ªActs 2:37-41.

I know you view the bible as a holy book & you believe in its prophets like we do, well these prophets wrote down over 300 prophecies concerning the promised seed or deliverer, each & every one of them found fulfillment in Jesus life death & resurrection. To deny Jesus as God¡¯s promised deliverer, is to say that the prophets of old lied, is it not?

All the best
