Question
I would like to know about Jesus testimony on John Chapt 6 when he describes himself as "The Bread of Life." Was this speech given during the feast of the tabernacles or just prior to it. Did his speech have anything to do with the feast?

Answer
Pete, before I answer your question, I want to tell you that your thoughts on Siloam would make a really nice homily.
In chapter 5, the feast would most likely be Pentecost.  So, the feast of Tabernacles would not be only a few months later.  Consequently, the episode of the bread of life would be between these two feasts and is set in Galilee.  That would mean that the stay there was just a few months in duration.
Because of the location [Galilee] and its taking place before Tabernacles [Jerusalem]in the arrangement of the gospel, I do not think that the ideas in chapter 6 refer  to Tabernacles.  However, the mention of Passover in chapter 6 sets the background because of the unleaven bread of that feast.  Jesus' bread [himself] not only saves from  slavery and death [Egypt] but also leads to eternal life.
Again, please feel free to write again.  Best wishes.
