Question
Is the United States of America the Whore that sits on the Beast, and is destroyed , in chapter 17, verses 15 - 18 in the Book of Revelation , specifically verse 16 ?

Answer
Hi Tony,

I don't know if the United States is the Whore you're speaking of. I hope not! I know the US does both good and bad things throughout the world. We are, for instance, the most charitable nation on the earth, giving more to help the less fortunate than any other nation. And, we also do questionable things like start wars where it may not be necessary? We are both good and evil, like most nations. I don't know if we're the prophesied Whore, though. Abraham asked God to spare Sodom if God could find 10 righteous people in Sodom. God said that He would spare it for the sake of the 10. I'm pretty sure that America has at least 10 righteous people, so I would expect God to apply His mercy here too. What I think God should do in cases of determining who to punish is to just punish the evil people. Why would He punish the good with the wicked? He ought to just punish the wicked. He knows where they live, He can punish them individually. He's God, He can do anything. It doesn't make moral sense to punish the good while going after the evil. It certainly didn't make sense to Abraham, and God agreed. So, pray for America, Tony, and that God will spare America while still punishing the evil who are here.

Hello to you! I love discussing many doctrinal subjects regarding God`s rationale for creating us like he did and our value to him. Also, I enjoy discussing things from the Atheist`s perspective too. I take the view that the Bible is not inerrant, that it has errors which are easy to prove, but I also believe that much in the Bible is God`s Word to humanity.

Experience

I have spent over 30 years studying the Bible and related materials. Though I am a layman, I feel confident about my knowledge of the scriptures and welcome all points of view and will treat you with the respect you deserve.
