QuestionHi Don,
Do you happen to know if www.OldCovenant.com
is really true ?
Thanks.
AnswerHi Al,
This is an interesting site. It shows that God was right when He described our enemy the Devil.
Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
It is true that the division page was added to scripture. HOWEVER>>> I have been a serious Bible student since 1982 and I have ALWAYS understood that the new covenant took place after Calvary. No serious Bible scholar that I know believes that the Gospels are part of the New Covenant. You see, this is a straw man argument to allege that folks believe something that they don.t then destroy what you say they believe.
Here is the subtile flaw in this web site. The impression is left that salvation was by the law during the Old Covenant and by grace through the New Covenant. THAT IS FALSE! Salvation has never been by law and it has always been by grace. Note the following verses, and Paul's comments about old testament saints being saved without keeping the law.
Genesis 15:6
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Romans 4:1-8
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
I am sorry for this late response. I hope that this is a help. If you need further clarification, please post a follow up.
In Christ,
Pastor Don
