how can i restore my passion and joy in the things of God
"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he."
You must will yourself to advance in your spiritual life.
Pray.
Study the Scriptures.
Sing hymns.
Witness.
Repent.
It's really a matter of deciding to walk the life and sticking with it no matter what. Devotion and dedication are more important than passion. Emotions come and go. Commitment lasts.
Remember the old hymn, "I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back, no turning back."
