Question
Why God hate sex before marriage
Hi Tumisang,
In the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament) the focus is on preserving the bloodline of the Messiah. Shiloh had to come through certain families.
In the New Testament, as well as the Old, a primary emphasis is on protecting women and children. In those days, an unmarried woman had little hope of a good life and her children even less.
Marriage formed a vital social contract that preserved order and protected the weak. It also avoided fights over inheritance issues, also a big deal in the ancient world.
Another reason is sexually transmitted diseases. These diseases caused serious problems for the ancient world, as they still do today.
Judaism, Islam, and to a lesser degree Christianity base their moral codes on the same source, the Torah. It isn't therefore so much that "God hates sex before marriage" as it is that God is our eternal well-wisher who seeks our best interests. Sexual relations outside/prior to marriage pose serious social and health hazards that God seeks to protect us from.
Finally, in some cases, such as the Jewish prohibition of pork and the eating of the fruit of the Garden in Genesis, the central point is that God forbids it and that we, as Believers, should always obey God.
