Hello...
I hope you can help with this question.  Our church bible study group is working on the book of Matthew right now.  Our teacher gave us 10 questions each.  I having trouble with two of them. I just need just enough info to get started with the both of them.  (1)What is the meaning and theological significance of Matthew 16:13-20. and (2) Luke 2:21-51 has the events of circumcision, purification, and redemption of the first-born. What is the theological significance of each event? -Explain in detail. What ever you can help with would be great...  Thanks

Answer
Hi,
Circumcision, was a religious ritual in Abraham times.
God took this ritual like a signal or a pact between He and his people.
in the Old Testament wasen't a puberty ritual like was in the pagans nacions... They used to do it cause the beneficts of that,
the first beneficts of that was. Justification for the faith....   the justification brings regeneration or the new borns in God, or to a new life.
for the Jews people circumcicion was like comun practice.
Well, this is a very confuses topic, but in my opinion don't let those things confuses you about if is good or bad to do a circumcision.... thats the probllem with us.. we lose time and energy looking for things the dosent take us any where. the most important things is God did't and thats all.
