Question
Christ himself disowned his mother and his brothers when they heard the rumor that he was "crazy" (Mk. 3:21, "He is beside himself."), and they came to take him home (Mat. 3:31-35).

Answer
To understand a teaching in the bible, one needs to refer to all the texts that relate to the subject.
While the passages that you quote do not show any special respect for the mother of Jesus, other passages do:
Lk 1:27-55 has the angel calling Mary "favored" by God and she realizes that "generations will called me blessed."  At the cross, Jesus gave his mother to us through the person of the beloved disciple [Jn 19:27].  Also, Mary was among the group of the disciples after the ascension of Jesus [Acts 2:14. Basically, her special place among the followers of Jesus comes from her free acceptance of being the mother of the Messiah.
