Question
I got an email yesterday saying that it was a practice for females to be put into slavery by the age of 12 during Bible times.  Is that true or where would this belief be found in the Old Testament?

Answer
The Bible says nothing of the sort.  The law of Moses allowed Hebrews to be enslaved (e.g., for unpaid debts), but all had to be released during the sabbatical year that occurred every seven years.  There was no regular provision for making slaves out of anyone but women and children captured during warfare.
