hello. first, thanks for the help.

i'm having trouble finding 2 areas in the bible. perhaps they don't exist. i've read it, yet, that doesn't make me remember it. :-)

1. i thought there was mention of a generational curse. i was pretty sure it was in the old testament (?). when i brought it up, i was told "that's crazy". so. since i should let the word of God back itself up, i need to have reference.

2. i'm would like to find mention of God asking abraham to sacrifice his own son. isaac? if i have my names or name orders wrong, it's more important that i find the part where God asked someone (old testament) to sacrifice his own son.

Thank you for your question.

To be honest I'm not quite sure about generational curses.  This is a very gray area for me since there are some verses that seem to support and not support them.  

One one hand God says:

Deut 5:9-10
"Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments."

On the other hand God says:

Ezekiel 18:20
"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

In my opinion I do not believe in generational curses.  
God is just and will deliver punishment where punishment is due.  As the verse in Ezekiel says "The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father".   However, I would not be surprised if generational curses do exist and God uses them to carry out his divine justice in a particular way.   

I wish I could be of more help.   It is a very gray area.
