AnswerHi Michelle,
I'd say the meaning in Greek would be what the translators of the Greek-into-English translation translated it to be, that is, "Be Still and Know that I Am God". That is, to be "still" means to shut up, and and listen to God, who often speaks in a "still small voice" which can only be 'heard' by quieting yourself and listening to what you think God is saying. Of course, the Devil can immitate God's 'voice' and often does. He did so with me, for instance. I used to "speak in tongues" and often believed what I thought the interpretation of the tongues was saying, only later to realize that I was being misled by the UNholy spirit, not the Holy Spirit. Be careful with your speaking in tongues, Michelle. More often than not, it's the Devil, not God, speaking.
Too many spiritual morons (myself once being one) followed it into grave error. Thank God I was set free from my moronic, brainless spirituality when I denounced that lying spirit and chose to stop speaking in tongues. I prefer applying intelligence over random emotion any day when it comes to seeking God and His guidance for my life. And if God does want to tell me something, He knows where I live, and can easily speak to me. I don't have to appeal to emotion, or speak in tongues to 'hear' from God. Only dumbells speak in tongues, and I was the dumbest of the lot. Don't be another one, Michelle. Turn on your brain, VALUE your intelligence, and devalue your emotion when you are seeking God. That way, you will not be so prone to being misled by that damn lying UNholy spirit from the pit of hell. God guides us by what we THINK, and not by what we FEEL. Learn that lesson, and you'll save yourself a lot of heartache!
