Hi:

I actually have a twofold question regarding salvation. Here it is:

I am fully aware of the "Mechanics," of Jesus' sacrifice for us in that I believe in and accept the fact that he took on my sin and died under it's penalty. I believe this an have faith in it - what I dont understand is HOW that Switch occurred. Allow me to explain: I myself could never "Take on" another persons sin or be punished for thier sin - or take on any other aspect of their personality, character, etc, etc. So in terms of the Actual taking on of our sin - how did it occur exactly. Does the bible say?

My next and related question is that since he did assume responsibility for our sin - why did he not have to suffer for EVER in hell like all the other people who die, unsaved with the weight of thier sin on their own shoulders? It doesnt seem like an even switch. He only died for two days and yet if we were responsible for our own sin, it would weigh us down in death for ever!!! Without trying to be disrespectful - but having no other way of putting it - how did he get off with only three days? Do you see what I mean.   Thanks    Pete

Well Pete

The old testament sacrificial lamb was killed once a year for the atonement of sins. Jesus was killed forever in the flesh for the redemption of sins. He died but rose as a different form of resurected body. Not Jesus of Nazareth any more. But Jesus the Christ.

Or rather Christ Jesus. The risen Christ. Several things were noticeably different in his make up. Walking through walls and dissappearing in front of crowds etc etc.

SO it was required only for him to die in the flesh. A body of a perfect human being needed for this sacrifice. WHy? Because God the Father said it should be this way. It is Him who makes the rules.

The taking on of sins happeneed on the cross when Jesus cried out by reason of separation from life. Life being the Father of Life.

Death being caused by satan the enemy of life.

Hope this helps

Answer
God is the author of life and the word "satan" means the enemy of life, according to dictionary.

To be separated from life is to be separated from God.Satan brings death, and so when satan is judged then death cannot exist any more. So God has to judge those worthy of death whilst saatn exists. Once he does not exist, then death cannot come to ay one.

So God will judge mankind whilst satan remains and then judge satan last of all.

"The last enemy to be destroyed is death " 1 Corinthians 15.

Death is a separation from God and so when Jesus died he was separated from the Father. For a short while. To enter death and then to be resurrected and so hold the keys of death. Entering into death as a perfect Lamb of God. The glory of God brought him out of death after three days.

Thus he held the keys to the kingdom of death.God hands people over to their sins.Namely the devil, unless they have the sacrifice and gift of righteouesness.

This is how death reigns, for now.

The one area where God does not rule, for the moment.

God bless
